Talking check today. Gingham was a huge trend all Summer that I think will continue to push into Fall along with it's favorite Fall counterparts plaid, tartan and checks. These are all great prints to start making the transition into the upcoming season but are still easy, wear now styles. I've linked a few of my favorite checked designs below. The look I am wearing is created from two great pieces I scooped up at my first visit to the Clothes Mentor Asheville. Very similar to Plato's Closet for those who are familiar where you can buy, sell, trade your old clothes to upcycle them. I found this Theory sweater and Dolce & Gabbana Skirt for a grand total of $70 but by exchanging some of my old pieces only had to pay $30. Not a bad deal if I say so myself. I love this little cropped sweater because it'll also be great in Fall with high waisted skinny jeans, ankle boots and a great jacket layered over. Share your checked style on Instagram and tag me so I can see, @kirbymorris.

The Long & Short of It.
One of the biggest upcoming trends for fall is layering long pieces like tunics and even dresses over your skinny jeans. Turning some of your favorite stand alone pieces into dramatic layers for an updated fall style. You've seen me style this sheer tunic a few times (here & here), and I'm excited to have a new way to wear it into the upcoming season since it seemed like such a summery piece. And of course for Fall I am loving all things bomber jackets, the one I am wearing here is sold out but I linked a super similar one from C&C California that is under $50 here. How do you feel about long layers over your pants? Let me know in the comments below!
