Happy New Year y'all! 2017 flew by but I will definitely say that past couple of months whizzed by even faster, between lots going on in our personal lives, friends and family coming to town to visit and working a retail job through the holidays I swear it was just September yesterday. Andrew and I saw a lot of changes in 2017 one major change being moving literally to the other side of the country, and Asheville truly welcomed us with open arms. I think throughout the past year we realized how important new experiences are to us, even something as small as driving to a new town 20 minutes away and grabbing a cup of coffee; just a constant need to experience new places and new people, so we definitely want to be doing more of that this year. I'm not one for resolutions per se, but I am definitely one for setting goals and the fresh start of a new year seems like a solid place to start. My personal goals are just to be a better person each and every day, live through positivity and be kind to others. And, maybe stepping a little further out of my comfort zone, I think 2017 brought me the most confidence in myself, so now I feel like I should encourage myself to try new things. As for Fashion by Day, my goal for the upcoming year is just to bring you all more; you've been following a long with my outfits for such a long time and I love sharing that with you but I want to start sharing a little more about me and what I like to do, and see and eat. I'm going to be incorporating a little more lifestyle aspects into the blog and hopefully if 2018 sends it our way a little more travel. I would love to hear what you all have planned for 2018, or if there's something else you want from me and FBD so please share in the comments below! Thanks for a great year, love Kirby

Little Polka Dot Dress.
Can not seem to be able to get enough polka dots this season and when I saw this Old Navy Dress on sale for $15 two weeks ago I just had to scoop it up! It is currently on sale for about $21 because everything on their website is 30% off and it comes in seven colors though I'll admit, the polka dots is my favorite. I opted for a semi casual look that I feel can translate from a lot of different occasions by layering with this lightweight cardigan and a go-to ankle boot. I felt the dress was just a little long on me, making my legs look a little stumpy so I knotted one side so you could see more of my legs to help elongate. Would also be a great dress silhouette to belt if you were more comfortable with styling it that way. This is a great look to start off your weekend cause it's probably items you already have in your closet!

Stylish Staples.
Hey Ya'll! Happy Sunday! As I'm gearing up to face a new week I'm enjoying a cup of tea with the windows open and it is raining heavily outside, very quaint I must admit. This was a go go weekend filled with fun, and I felt I needed a little bit of relaxing 'me' time before diving back into Monday morning! Hope you all enjoyed your weekends as well! This look is from the end of last week and is a combination of oldie but goodie pieces mixed with a couple new items that are on sale thru tomorrow! The focal point of this look is this $6 tee I picked up from Old Navy; I love that it is neutral but still has a fun animal print. I layered it with a faux fur vest I scooped up from Target over two years ago and an older midi skirt from SheIn. I accessorized with this Serefina necklace that is still available and on sale additional 40% off. I topped off the look with a darker lip that perfectly coordinated with an Old Navy clutch I've had for a few years. It's amazing how something as simple as a fresh t-shirt can give you the inspiration you need to create something exciting from your wardrobe. I challenge you to re-style some old pieces in your closet this week!

White Sneakers with Everything.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, I spent a little too much time in the sun at the lake with the family. Don't worry I'm sure you'll see the results of my sunburn sometime this week! Here is another Anthropologie jumpsuit I have been living in the past few weeks. As you know I'm a lover of most things blue and white and this lightweight, breezy piece is great for dressing up and down; of course my perfect look is wearing it casually paired with some fresh white sneakers for everyday style! It's a great piece because it reads like a midi dress and you can play around with how you style it either by layering a white t-shirt underneath for a 90s inspired look or belting the waist for a more structured silhouette.
Slice of Summer.
Yesterday, was an absolutely gorgeous, sunny day, and really gave us a taste of what Summer will be like! I wore this cute little graphic tee out and about while running errands between the grocery store and TJ Maxx where I was scouring for some more goodies to add to our new home. I think this tee is just bold and punchy enough to bring a little fun to an outfit day or night all Summer long! Also, it's another goodie from She In and is under $15 :)
Mellow Yellow.
All about that sunshine yellow this season, and the color of this Old Navy dress plus the cute, bell sleeves make it a great piece for Spring style, not to mention it's under $20 price tag! We are currently in the midst of some extra warm temperatures (which I am loving) but we all know we have a few days of cool ahead of us yet, so this is how I'm styling this dress in the meantime. Layered up with some fun, faux fur, one styling tip I've been loving from Winter street style is belting over all your layers whether a vest like shown here or even around your winter coat, for a more waist defining, feminine look.
All the Layers.
With temperatures really starting to drop around here and staying low, here is a lesson in layering for the winter season. Make your scarf a part of the outfit; rather than just an accessory. Don't be afraid to wrap it and drape it and make it a statement piece when adding the extra layer in cooler months. I wrapped this basic scarf into a poncho like cape for a mid week work day, easy peasy and so cozy!
