My Pants.

I'm proud to say that this look features a pair of print, beach pants that I made. After wearing them yesterday there are some things I'm not in love with and some fit issues that need to be corrected, but I'm happy to see a project  finished that I'm actually planning on wearing, and if I may add are sewn beautifully! As we've discussed before these style of print pants are extremely popular this season and I started working on them when I saw a pair of Free People ones in stores about three months ago; I didn't know  if I wanted to invest that much in a pair of pants so I decided to make my own..it just took a little while (they're on sale now)! These have inspired me to get my butt in gear and work on more projects, stay tuned!

Did Someone Say Summer?

It's really starting to feel like summertime around here and the other day I welcomed it in one of my original pieces. I made this dress over a year ago and never brought myself to wear it, I was sewing the other day and told myself I'm not allowed to sew another thing until I wear something I've made. Who knows this could be the start of something good!

Arabian Nights.

Whenever I'm getting dressed for the day I usually have an idea in my head of what I want my outfit to look like. (I'm sure we all do.) Half the time things don't turn out the way I imagine and other times, I'm so close, but there is just one piece I wish I could swap out for something else. Yesterday I really wanted to wear this Jen's Pirate Booty poncho and thought it would look amazing with a flare jean and chunky sandals. Well, to my disappointment these flares are just too short to be worn with heels, and I felt stalky wearing them with flat sandals. The solution? To change things up from skinnies I took the excess flare portion of the pants and rubberbanded them into knots, then I just tucked the knots up into the pants. Creating a harem style effect and channeling my inner Aladdin.

Merry & Bright.

Getting into the holiday spirit nice and early this year with this plaid skirt I made last week. I love the feminine silhouette of a full skirt, making it appropriate for all your holiday soirees, from brunches to office parties. I've decided to tuck away my inner Grinch and let my holiday spirit shine bright, starting today, December 1st.

Patriotic Pants.

Fashionable on the 4th of July thanks to a DIY tutorial from Jessica Quirk's style blog What I Wore. Simple pieces complimenting a very patriotic pair of pants that I painted Tuesday night. A little arts & crafts always helps get me into the holiday spirit. Sadly, I pretty much only got to wear this American ensemble for a couple of hours, because we had a very gloomy day, and it was cold and windy. I guess June gloom didn't get the memo that it is July.

Day 309.

Still in a casual mood, the greatest things happened Saturday. I was sitting in my morning sewing class, and all of a sudden I got a voicemail telling me I didn't have to go into work that night! WooHoo! I haven't had a Saturday night off in weeks, and to get one without even asking for it was a real treat! So, after changing out of my what were to be work clothes, this is what I decided to wear. I got to spend my evening having dinner and hanging out with great friends and family, just the sort of relaxing evening I needed!

Day 309.
Old Navy Lace Tee $6, Old Navy Boyfriend Cardigan $12, Aerie Print Scarf $9, Banana Republic Skinnies $45, Navy Converse All-Stars $30, RayBan Sunglasses $0; Gift, Houndstooth Messenger Bag about $25; Made by Me

Day 261.

This western inspired look was completely inspired by the skirt. This skirt was actually a project for my sewing class, and it came out pretty well, except I think I'll shorten the length a little, because it seems a little frumpy. It was a little difficult styling it this morning, because it's sort of springy, so I tried to make the overall look fall, but I still look like I'm ready for a picnic in April!

Tresics White Tee $6, Express Denim Jacket $25, Kirby Morris Skirt about $20 in materials, Target Floral Scarf $3.50, Barefoot Boots $40

Day 210.

Monday morning I woke up and it was CAAAAOLLDDD! It really felt like fall, so I bundled up in some fall attire. I had a weird revelation though, about halfway through the day I decided I don't really like myself in such light tans, I feel like they wash me out. But color aside, I really love this sweater. Go Old Navy for predicting a 'capeesque' trend a year in advance!

I decided to try jewelry making, and this necklace is about as far as I've gotten so far! I like the feeling it brings to the big, knit sweater; I feel like I should be holed away in a cabin up in the mountains!
Day 210.
Old Navy Sweater $15, Charlotte Russe Tee $8, Vigoss Denim $25, Barefoot Boots $40, Bead Necklace approximately $7
