Let's Talk About Taupe.

Clearly still figuring out what season it is around here, but I also feel like I've been wearing an overload of black and white lately, so today I opted for a little more color. The fall 2015 color report is a beautiful array of warm, rich colors and I'm especially loving the earthy greens/grays. Aside from the obvious go-to black, I love taupe accents this time of year, especially how they balance out much more vibrant colors like Marsala red and Oak Buff yellow. Not quite in the usual fall color scheme, remember my favorite Faithfull the Brand shirt dress seen here? Well today I used it as an easy layering piece by wearing it completely open, sans belt. Walking Tall // Tips for Lengthening Your Look.

Put a modern spin on a classic menswear inspired look today, and used a couple styling tricks to lengthen my look and make me seem just a few inches taller. First off, flare jeans are a great way to lengthen your legs; they basically do all the work on their own just make sure when you're pairing with shoes that your denim perfectly skims the ground, one centimeter too short and instead of elongating you'll shorten yourself right up! Next these skinny scarves are great for lengthening your look, they automatically draw the eye in a vertical direction, if you're easing into this scarf trend opt for a long statement necklace. And lastly a pointed toe shoe is awesome for lengthening the legs those couple extra inches through the toe draw the leg out! Try them all together and voila you're walking taller!

The Sophisticated Scarf - a Closet Staple.

I found this printed scarf on sale at H&M at least three years ago for less than $5 - somehow it has managed to pull its' own in my wardrobe over the years becoming a true staple. I've topped off dozens of looks with this beauty, and there is something great about the elegant print and variety of colors that make it perfect for updating a casual, or otherwise 'plain' look. Try playing around with scarves this season whether it's tying them sophisticatedly around your neck, perhaps get a little funky and wear one as a belt - or maybe even pull a Carrie Bradshaw and tie one around your arm!

Fancy Flannel.

Flannel shirts aren't just for ho-downs and being paired with jeans and cowboy boots. I love dressing a good plaid up, using it as an essential layering piece or tying it around my waist for an outfit topping accessory. They are a modern classic piece that can complete your wardrobe all year long.

Plain Prints.

Fun printed pants: harem, joggers, bells, wide legs, you name it, are a major must-have for Summer style. In many cases such as here (with these wide legs) the pants alone may be overwhelming so it's important to remember that when creating an outfit, simple is probably going to be better! A basic t-shirt can go a long way when paired with such a funky piece!
