Statement Shirt.

Good evening ya'll! Just got home from the most fun, little event at Nest Boutique & DIY Studio in Biltmore Village, got to shop with some great ladies and learn how to do custom denim embroidery by a local artist! So much fun, however this isn't what I wore tonight but a look I wore at the end of last week. I am so in love with this oversized Free People blouse, there's something effortlessly chic about it and I love giving it a more masculine spin with menswear inspired accessories. The blouse is on sale and you can shop it here! Be sure to check out the Nest's workshop calendar here so you can attend one of their upcoming events, such a fun way to spend an evening and meet some fabulous women!

Walking Tall // Tips for Lengthening Your Look.

Put a modern spin on a classic menswear inspired look today, and used a couple styling tricks to lengthen my look and make me seem just a few inches taller. First off, flare jeans are a great way to lengthen your legs; they basically do all the work on their own just make sure when you're pairing with shoes that your denim perfectly skims the ground, one centimeter too short and instead of elongating you'll shorten yourself right up! Next these skinny scarves are great for lengthening your look, they automatically draw the eye in a vertical direction, if you're easing into this scarf trend opt for a long statement necklace. And lastly a pointed toe shoe is awesome for lengthening the legs those couple extra inches through the toe draw the leg out! Try them all together and voila you're walking taller!

Feminine-Masculine.

As a supporter of menswear dressing, I like adding delicate, girly pieces to my outfit to help soften a masculine look. This lace blazer helps keep your look structured, but the semi-sheer, lace detailing still makes you look like a girl. And a skinny scarf can help mimic a men's skinny tie, but be sure to choose a feminine print like a soft colored floral.

End of the Week Androgyny.

A little menswear inspired look to start off the weekend. What I'm loving about this outfit is how I easily dressed up a fun Wildfox graphic t-shirt. It adds a little funk to my masculine look, and keeps it playful enough for a Saturday afternoon. Not all your cozy tees have to be reserved for pajamas, they're so comfortable why wouldn't you want to wear them everyday?

Wanna be a Baller.

A casual take on menswear inspired dressing. Add some sporty pieces to your fall wardrobe. Baseball caps, flannels, letterman jackets, and sweatpants are key pieces for an athletic look. Pair with gold accessories and feminine heels.

Shout for Chambray.

I'm mainly just SUPER excited about this chambray shirt! I found this insanely comfortable Marc by Marc Jacobs button down on the sale rack at Loehmann's, and couldn't pass it up. Using the additional percent off purple tags, plus my additional 20% off the total purchase, I got this $198 top for a mere $41. That is beyond a score! This is already my third time wearing it in the past week, I love a good button down, so you'll definitely be seeing it a lot more! The rest of the look is pretty simple, a styling technique I use often, taking a more masculine look (oversized denim; and a oxford) and making it feminine with dainty stilettos and a statement accessory. Perfect for heading back to work after a week off.
