Stone Style.

Took a family outing to Stone Brewing Co. in Encinitas for my brother's birthday. The craft brew scene is taking over California but for those of you not so into beer Stone has a large gourmet menu with regular and vegetarian options and a beautiful garden to enjoy, surely something for everyone. On a hot, Saturday afternoon this lightweight Gilly dress by Michael Lauren was the perfect piece for staying cool and comfortable. A staple piece that can surely transition into fall, think tights and boots.

Bella in White.

Love the head to toe white look that's been trending this season, but for me personally it's something I need to ease into. This look was a good place to start, because yes, I'm wearing a lot of white, but I have one statement piece that balances it out. Think of an all white look as a blank canvas that you can add to and layer over with something like this beautiful kimono shawl from Cleobella. I picked it up at the Sydny Showroom Sample Sale Thursday in Costa Mesa. Still going on today til 6pm so head on over!

Jack-et of all Trades.

It's been pretty evident over the past couple years I'm a fan of layering, that last added layer is usually what perfects any look. I think jackets add a lot of versatility to any wardrobe, with their help you can mix and match just a handful of basics, rotating your outer layers to create different looks.  My favorite piece right now is this Tinley Road jacket from Piperlime; It's warm but light enough to easily wear long sleeves/sweaters underneath. I really love the mixture of textures, fleece interior, twill inspired exterior and faux-leather sleeves. What more can you want, I basically have three jackets in one!

This what I did today, not sure how it happened, but it works. In the words of

Monday Blues.

You know I love a good monochromatic look and what better than lots of navy? Just make sure when going monochrome to add a little pop with your accessories, I still kept it relatively neutral with some cognac pieces.

End of the Week Androgyny.

A little menswear inspired look to start off the weekend. What I'm loving about this outfit is how I easily dressed up a fun Wildfox graphic t-shirt. It adds a little funk to my masculine look, and keeps it playful enough for a Saturday afternoon. Not all your cozy tees have to be reserved for pajamas, they're so comfortable why wouldn't you want to wear them everyday?

Not So Ugly Sweater.

In honor of National Ugly Christmas Sweater day, I thought we should take a moment to reflect on the this joyous day. What started as a joke a few years back to bring some lighthearted and immature fun to the holidays, where everyone was scrounging up all of Grandma's old holiday sweaters and hitting thrift stores across town to attend parties with friends and mock one another. With vintage inspired pieces becoming such a trend in recent seasons, I'm starting to find more holiday sweaters making their way to current stores and becoming, well, much less ugly. For instance I'm loving this Free People Rudolph Sweater, it has just the right blend of holiday spirit, but keeps to the perfect palette of colors and maintains such a versatile silhouette. You won't see this baby at any Ugly Sweater parties!

Attention Shoppers.

Holiday shopping is among us, this weekend being the biggest push of the season. As you're bouncing from store to store you may start to feel your feet hurt, or perhaps you're too hot, or maybe you're just sick of trying things on. To ensure your shopping experience is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, follow these simple guidelines.

- Your main layer should be a piece you can easily take on and off when
trying on clothes = flannel
- Obviously wear comfortable shoes, ones you can walk in for long periods of time and get on and off easily = zipper ankle boots (avoid laces)
- Versatile bottoms are key for trying on boots as well as seeing an array of different tops and sweaters = skinny jeans
-You're going to be running around all day, make sure you have an easy layer for changing temperatures from hot to cold = vest
- Simple accessories, you want less pieces hanging off your body, especially if other layers will be coming on and off all day = watch, this way you stay on top of your perfectly executed schedule

Everything's Illuminated.

Donned this perfect Free People dress to the Lumineer's concert last night at the Greek Theatre. I feel this look is the epitome of my personal style, a little boho, maybe even a little western, with an edgy twist. It was my first time at the Greek, and it is probably one of my favorite venues now, not to mention the Lum's were amazing.

Young Hearts Run Free.

Spent today reflecting on my next step in life, what project can I undertake next. Always looking for something fresh to motivate me, and this Wildfox tee is definitely helping. Just remember ladies and gents, young hearts run free. Happy Monday!

To a Tee.

Never under estimate the value of a great t-shirt. If you have a tee in a flattering fit and a quality fabric, you can make it work for any occasion. A luxury t-shirt can become the star of a simple daytime look or a silent observer as part of a more intricate outfit. I'm loving the contrasting colors of this Bailey 44 Three on a Tree Top black and white tee; it's perfect for going from day to night.

Playtime.

Behold the jumpsuit; now why did we all get rid of our old overalls from the 90s? It's interesting how fashion continuously recycles itself, yet we always feel the need to get rid of our 'old' clothes. Maybe if we would save everything, we would always have something to wear. I'm not sure what triggers adults to want to wear child like playsuits, especially ones covered in polka dots, but I will say I'm loving this one from asos. Honestly its practically the same as a maxi dress, a one piece outfit, making me feel both young and like an old soul simultaneously.

Lessons in Metallics.

This season brightly colored baubles and gemstone statement pieces have lost their sparkle making way for a heavy flow of mixed metals. Jewelry is all about silver and especially gold and you can't go wrong if you're mixing the two. Not only in accessorizing; metallics are becoming a staple to everyday dressing. If you're afraid of attracting attention from outerspace start out by trying something simple like a pair of silver stilettos.
