Singular Style.

What I love about fashion is getting to express yourself a million different ways. Everyone always focuses on defining their personal style, and when I think about mine I can basically only describe it as, 'my style.' I'm very eclectic I like a lot of different things and styles, from feminine to edgy to bohemian to preppy, there isn't one way to describe my wardrobe and that's okay. I don't feel the same every single day so why would I want to dress the same every day? Don't be afraid to wear something different or try a new trend, you may think, 'oh I would never wear that,' but if you like it why not?

Room for Flexibility - In Your Wardrobe.

Fall is my favorite season for dressing, it's all about layering and bundling up. I just can't have enough open knit sweaters, and in an average week I'll probably wear my leather jacket at least four times. During this season we have the most options for dressing, because let's be honest you can physically wear more items at a time. Sometimes though we get stuck in a comfort rut, so we, myself included start wearing the same thing over and over just because we want to be warm and cozy. I have a solution, think about mixing in some prints; print jackets, a print blazer, perhaps an all-over print graphic tee or maybe a graphic sweatshirt. You can still layer and be cozy all you want, but this will keep your looks from becoming dull. A good print blazer is great because it's one more layer for warmth, but it keeps your look classic and seemingly put together. This one I'm wearing is from H&M and it is perfect for layering because it has some spandex in it giving it lots of room and flexibility for all the pieces I want to pair it with.

Just Do It.

Tomorrow when you get dressed, or the next time you are picking out your clothes, don't think about it. Just put on what you want to put on, as random as it may seem, wear what you want to wear at the moment. You may be surprised how all those abstract pieces completely come together.

Major Leaguer.

Went to a baseball game the other night, and I couldn't think of anything more perfect to wear than this Rails flannel. Cozier than ever this double layer Kendra button down not only kept me warm when it started to cool down, but was the perfect colors to cheer on the Cleveland Indians. Plaids are here to stay for fall and this is going to be one of the major players in the upcoming season.

All Tied Up.

Try tying up the front of your favorite button down for a fresh update to a classic look. This youthful twist is more playful for summertime styling and gives a basic button down a feminine touch. Accessorize with a blend of menswear inspired pieces such as boyfriend jeans, wayfarer shades, watches or oxfords.

OATW.

In the words of Akon, 'We takin' over one city at a time.' That's us Ohioans I mean. Born and raised in Ohio I feel it is my job along with Ohio Against the World to rep where I come from. I'm all about supporting a small company, especially one with a personal connection. And I can't tell you how instantly a fell in love with this Plus Tax sweater. Check them out online, merch is selling like crazy!

Miss Hawaiian Tropic.

Updating your wardrobe from one season to the next does not have to be a task that breaks the bank. My suggestion; invest in a few great staple items, then mix & match with low price separates and accessories. These Hudson Ginny Crop pants are some of the greatest jeans I've ever owned, they fit perfect, they're extremely comfortable and I love the color; I will make them last well into the fall. They're the perfect length to pair with flats and ankle boots. One of the most important pieces every closet needs is a good denim jacket. This Levi's Trucker jacket is the most traditional wash, it's also long enough and roomy enough for layering throughout the fall. Both great pieces for finishing up summer, transitioning to fall, then making an appearance next spring.

Lessons in Metallics.

This season brightly colored baubles and gemstone statement pieces have lost their sparkle making way for a heavy flow of mixed metals. Jewelry is all about silver and especially gold and you can't go wrong if you're mixing the two. Not only in accessorizing; metallics are becoming a staple to everyday dressing. If you're afraid of attracting attention from outerspace start out by trying something simple like a pair of silver stilettos.

A Look Worth Wearing.

Organic clothing and sustainability is a huge trend in culture and fashion right now. But other than the garment being made from organic fibers, so much more goes into the clothes of Indigenous clothing. I was lucky enough to get to wear this beautiful coat from Indigenous, that not only looks and feels great but was also made using fair trade guidelines, with organic fibers and low impact dyes. I wanted to make the coat the focal point of the outfit, and have it work as something I could wear all day; not just as a coat. I helped incorporate it in by belting over it, so the coat and the dress almost became one!

Metallic Monday.

This outfit is very simple, but everything fits together perfectly. I've been trying to under accessorize lately, because I feel like it is a more mature look in most cases. And it was the great Coco Chanel who said as you are walking out the door look in the mirror and take one accessory off. Yes, Man Repeller dubbed 'Arm parties' are totally in, as well as layers and layers of boho chic necklaces, but those piled on pieces don't work always. Just the right blend of deep metals help this outfit look complete; just one cuff, my shoes and a couple rings.

Garden Party.

I've been wanting to for a while, but yesterday afternoon I finally got around to starting a small 'garden.' Our landlord/previous tenant had five flower boxes outside on our 2nd balcony, filled with weeds and junk. I finally cleaned them out and added fresh soil. I also started some seedlings for forget-me-nots, sunflowers, pumpkins and basil. And, filled one box with seed bombs of wildflowers. It is still a work in progress, but the thought of growing beautiful things, inspired me to wear this beautiful, watercolor, floral skirt. Instead of aging myself 15 years I kept the look youthful by pairing it with a fun graphic tee, and cuffing my blazer sleeves. I'm excited about my new hobby, and can't wait til things begin to bloom!

I've decided for the time being it's not necessary for me to tell you the prices of everything; I don't intend on buying anything new for a while, and will continue to repeat things I've already worn. It should be known that I will continue to be budget friendly, but I think it's much more beneficial for me to help you find similar pieces to recreate looks, than for you to know where I found some bargain, that you'll never be able to track down. Let's be stylish together!

Day 358.

I guess the real question comes down to, is it appropriate to wear tights in spring and summer? I opted for tights, because the dress is shorter, and my nice, pale legs just aren't ready for that kind of open air commitment to everyone I see each day. Also, it was irregularly gloomy this day, so if I hadn't had tights on I would have been freezing! The colors are a little deep and rich for spring, but the delicate lace does help brighten up the look. Well, talk amongst yourselves and decide how much of a faux paus this is!
