Polish it Off.

I love throwing on a blazer, or structured jacket with a casual look. Most people think of jackets and blazers as stuffy and uncomfortable, too formal, or too businesslike so they disregard them for every day dressing. Finding a versatile piece like this H&M jacket, that is lightweight with mild stretch and is comfortable for layering is a great addition to your wardrobe! Something so simple can take your look to a whole other level of sophistication, you look totally polished, but you're completely confident and comfortable. Trust me, this isn't hard, and it's a fast way to top of any look whether its jeans and a top like here, or throwing it on over a casual sundress.

All Hallow's Eve.

Created a somewhat festive Halloween look with old basics from my closet. A little black, a little orange, voila!

To a Tee: Take Two.

Another look making use of a great basic tee, a simple linen top is a wardrobe essential. They're great for layering and classing looks up, because they have a clean and smooth drape. White tee, skinny jean and a blazer. These are all basics every woman should own so this minimalistic look is easy to accomplish.

Room for Flexibility - In Your Wardrobe.

Fall is my favorite season for dressing, it's all about layering and bundling up. I just can't have enough open knit sweaters, and in an average week I'll probably wear my leather jacket at least four times. During this season we have the most options for dressing, because let's be honest you can physically wear more items at a time. Sometimes though we get stuck in a comfort rut, so we, myself included start wearing the same thing over and over just because we want to be warm and cozy. I have a solution, think about mixing in some prints; print jackets, a print blazer, perhaps an all-over print graphic tee or maybe a graphic sweatshirt. You can still layer and be cozy all you want, but this will keep your looks from becoming dull. A good print blazer is great because it's one more layer for warmth, but it keeps your look classic and seemingly put together. This one I'm wearing is from H&M and it is perfect for layering because it has some spandex in it giving it lots of room and flexibility for all the pieces I want to pair it with.

OC Fashion Week.

Still adjusting to having the majority of my weekends free from the retail world, and completely cramming them with activities. This past weekend was non-stop from one event to the other, and the highlight was attending the student design show for Orange County Fashion Week. A runway show featuring the work of grad student designers along with Project Runway alums Michael Costello and Gordana Gehlhausen (the judges). I was highly impressed at the creative designs and immaculate detailing. Congratulations to the 1st place winner, Angela Wu, with her line, 'Fearless Beauty,' a Lady Gagaesque, feminine warrior collection.

Love the colors in the platform.

Rice Krispie.

An unbelievably summertime look turned office appropriate by adding one thing, a tailored blazer. A basic knit skirt and tee can be worn just about everywhere throughout the summer, but if you want to take it one step further, a blazer or any other jacket will help polish off the look. And we all know I'm obsessing over white this season, so of course this outfit is one of my faves right now.

Adventures of My Burnt Orange Blazer.

Today was bittersweet, it was my last day working at Banana Republic. I felt like I should keep it in the Gap Inc. family and wear this Old Navy, burnt orange, linen blazer I found this past weekend for only $1.97; NO JOKE! I originally bought it simply because of the price (orange isn't really my color), but as the day went on it grew on me more and more. There's something about a feminine dress and blazer that makes me feel powerful; which is appropriate as I'm heading onto new ventures. Starting with working part-time as a visual merchandiser for Irene's Story, a cute boutique style shop in our mall. I think this will be a good change for me, not only is it a great experience, but the aesthetic and style of the clothing is slightly more my personal style. I wonder what my discount is!?
